The third Meeting of the SUSTCULT project took place in Corfu, Greece, from 3- 5 October 2012. The meeting was organized in the framework of the International Week of Sustainable Cultural Heritage Management .
The meeting was organized by SUSTCULT partner in Corfu Culture Polis , a NGO , and the welcoming speech was held by Mr. ValileiosLaopodis – Culture Polis President.
The LP of the project, City of Venice presented the theme of importance of integrated management for heritage sites sustainable development: lessons from Venice , in the framework of WP4 activities of the project , related to the preparation of the Management Plans for each Site.
The representatives of the Greek Ministry of Culture Ms.EvgeniaGerousi and Ms .Vlazaki , the representative of UNESCO Office in Venice Mr. Philippe Pypaert , the Representative of the Hellenice Committee for UnescoMs.Papachristou, made the official greetings of the meeting.
25 representatives from partner organizations participated actively in the meeting also providing information on the development of activities at local level in the framework of the Mid Term review of the project. The Lead Partner and the other WP Leaders fully described achievements to date, future activities, outputs and deliverables and deadlines for the information and materials to be set by all partners.
Some of the topics that were discussed in the meeting by each partners were related to the onsite trainings that are following the online trainings of the Sites’ managers and experts, the common transnational methodology with will serve as a tool for the preparation and implementation of the Management Plans , the presentation of the SEE translational network and synergies with other projects and the overview of the foreseen local activities .
All the partners reported for the WPs of the projects and discussed about the next step ;the preparation of the Management Plan, the monitoring of the WEBGIS Platform and feedbacks on the monitoring of each WPs.
Parallel with the partners’ meeting was organized the training for the WEBGIS experts who are currently working on the common WEBGIS Platform for the 7 Sites. The expert of the City of Venice Mr. Andrea Mancuso organized the training for the WEBGIS Platform and share ideas and suggestions with other experts on how to better improve the presentation of the WEBGIS data base.
On the 4th of October the team of SUSTCULT Corfu organized an interesting and pleasant tour of the Historic Center of Corfu including guided tour of the cultural monuments which are an important part of the cultural heritage of Corfu and of Greece in general.
